The Valkyries have been Austin’s premiere women’s rugby club since 1991. Our team provides a competitive and social environment that allows us to express our physicality and personality through sport. As a competitive team, the Valkyries field a very talented and experienced side that consistently earns selection to the National Championship tournaments. We also develop our team by allowing veteran players and experienced coaches to pass on their passion and knowledge to new rugby teammates. We are the first and only women’s side in Texas to field a Division I and a Division II side. The Valkyries offer all players opportunities to play. As our team grows together on the pitch, we continue to build camaraderie off the pitch as well, often getting together outside of practice and games to socialize and enjoy the beautiful Austin scene. The Valkyries are gracious hosts to teams from across the nation, and are always willing to put together a fun rugby day to include family, friends, dogs and beverages!

We accept all women, regardless of fitness level, race, gender, or orientation. We promote a supportive team atmosphere that hinders on ensuring no bullying or hazing is ever allowed or tolerated. The Valkyries are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and rely primarily on the community to help support them financially, and in return, the team gives back to the community through volunteer efforts and public service.

Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, and is now in the Olympic Games. Rugby is the perfect sport to promote physical activity for those looking to gain strength and empowerment through sport, and develop teammates and friends for life! We hope you will consider coming to watch a game and maybe even consider putting some boots on and stepping out onto the pitch with us!
