TRU Players,

Thank you again for committing to the TRU tryout weekend and the TRU warm-up weekend. You all played very well and brought some heavy competition to the team this year. This was the hardest selection ever since we had to take a squad of 50+ girls down to only 28! Please remember that you are all worthy of trying out for the West if you would like to participate on Sunday please let me know.

The TRU U23 Team will participate in the LAU Tournament in Austin this weekend and then players that are selected will continue on to the West U23 NASC Tournament.

Unfortunately due to low numbers and spring break we had to cancel the matches for March 13, 2010 against the Midwest U23s.

We will try and play them again in the future.

Hi Everyone!

Coaches & Team Leaders – please forward to all your players who attended.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the tryouts. We had a great turnout and great rugby even with the cold weather.

Please let me or Wendy know if you have any questions or need drill ideas or things to work on. All the coaches were very impressed with your skills and energy at tryouts.

The following players are invited to our warm-up weekend in Austin Saturday & Sunday February 27th & 28th.

We will have a team dinner/chalk talk on Saturday evening and then we will have a scrimmage against the Austin Valkyries. More details and times to come.

Please respond to me asap so I know if you can make the warm-up weekend. I also need a confirmation if you are available the weekend of March 6th for the LAU Tournament in Austin.

Souper Salad Fresh-a-thon Fundraiser – Feb 4, 2010

The capitol city’s premiere women’s rugby club team, the Austin Valkyries are hosting a fundraiser THIS Thursday (February 4) from 5-8.30 pm at the south Lamar Souper Salad (4211 S. Lamar Ste A-30).

The Valks will receive 10% of all the proceeds. If you hate soup and you hate salad, well just come for the amazing mini gingerbread muffins. Also if you are not able to make it, please feel free to send a donation via Paypal and our website.

Hours Oppurtunity this Weekend for TRU U23 Tryots

Hey Valks,

This weekend is the TRU U23 tryouts.  We will have girls from all over Texas coming in for a 2 day camp.  Some of these ladies will need a place to stay so if you are willing to house a player or two let me know.

I have gotten approval from the officers to offer hours for housing.  I think the max will be 2 hrs.  You don’t have to entertain them or anything they just need a place to crash, couch or floor is fine.

Email me if you can and how many you could take.  Sorry I won’t know til Saturday morning who needs a place, but I can call you right after check-in (~10am) to let you know if you will have guests or not.
